Clubs & Societies

Departmental Societies

All students automatically have free membership of their Departmental Society. The activities of these societies normally tend to relate to the interests of the types of students the department's courses attract. The C&GCU Departmental Societies also add a level of community spirit within their departments. More information on each of these societies is available at their respective websites.

  • Aero Soc - Imperial College Aeronautical Society
  • Bio Eng Soc - The Bioenginerring Society @ Imperial College
  • Chem Eng Soc - Imperial College Chemical Engineering Society
  • Civ Soc - Civil Engineering Society
  • DoC Soc - Department of Computing Society
  • EE Soc - Electrical Engineering Society
  • Mech Soc - Imperial College's Society of Mechanical Engineering

Visit the Departmental Societies page for more information.

Extraordinary Societies

Imperial College Union has almost 300 societies, which cater for a huge variety of interests. Each society is affiliated to one of ICU's Faculty Union (FU) or a "Clubs & Societies Committee" (CSC). Those clubs and societies affiliated with the Guilds Union tend to be those that aimed at the interests of City & Guilds College students and/or are patriotic to Guilds and its traditions.

Visit the Extraordinary Societies page for more information.

Royal School Of Mines Clubs & Societies Committtee

Before 2002, the Engineering Faculty was instead two Constiuent Colleges - The City & Guilds College and the Royal School of Mines. After this, The CGCU took over representing the academic and welfare needs of RSM students. Howevere, the RSM continued to exist as a seperate organisation for the social need of RSM students. Whilst not specifically affiliated to the CGCU, we also understand that there are Clubs that belong to the RSM that interest Engineering students. You can find out more about these clubs by wisiting the RSM CSC website.
