Nando's Food Friday

Airbus Visit

This will be our second industrial trip of the term, this time to Airbus - the company that produces around half of the world's jet airliners.

As anyone who has been on one of these trips before will tell you, they are a great opportunity to get a glimpse of real engineering in industry, and they are great at giving you back that inspiration that made you want to take this course in the first place!

We will be meeting at approximately 7:30am outside the front of Aero and we should be back no later than 5:00pm. The exact times will be confirmed closer to the trip date.

Unfortunately, tickets have now sold out.

AeroSoc Gliding Trip

AeroSoc are teaming up with the Imperial College Gliding Club (icGC) to bring you the opportunity of experiencing what it's like to fly!

We have been able to negotiate a special deal so that your tickets will cost only £35. This will include transport to and from the airfield, a trial flight with an experienced gliding instructor and the chance to fly the glider yourself!

Your flight will begin by being towed by a powered aircraft to 2000 ft, from where you will be released before gliding back to the airfield using the power of only gravity and high-lift wings!

The Return of Aerosoc Poker Night

The AeroSoc is pleased to announce its second Poker Night of the year. It will take place in the Aero Common room on Tuesday starting at 6:00pm.

There will be a prize for the first second and third place. All of the buy-in money will be given back to the winners so you stand to make a considerable amount of money.

There will also be beers/soft drinks and snacks available.

Ernst & Young Presentation

A message from Artur, aerosoc's industrial events coordinator;

This Thursday, 12pm in RH266, Aeronautics Society is hosting Ernst and
Young to give a presentation on the company's profile and do interview
and assessment skills session. It is very useful to attend as it is
not only a great company to work in in the future, but the skills
session is a good preparation for the future summer internship
application and interviews.

Addtionaly, at the E&Y team leader for graduate recruitment for London
Universities has kindly agreed to attend the event and he will
definitely give some tips on how to apply, what to write, what to do
to your CV is you want to be successful in applying to companies in
London.

E&Y may also sponsor the society in various event. It means lower
prices for the tickets for other events including Christmas dinner,
aero trips and many other. It is crucial for all of you to attend. It
does not matter which year you are in. Just come, you devote a bit of
your time and get some refreshments at the end.

A change of scenery from all the sports, something a bit more laid back... next Friday 20th November at 12pm on High Street Kensington (10 min walk fron uni) there will be the annual Pizza Hut challenge, a casual lunch in pizza hut or those who still want the competitive edge there is the competition of how many slices you can eat, I think that the current record is 33 pizza slices. Lecturers might attend again (an email is beign sent around..)so this time you might get the chance to see some of them stuff their face.

AEROSOC PUB CRAWL/BUDDIES MEETING

ok you beautiful people its that time of year again!

we're kicking off the year with the annual pub crawl with a twist, this year it is being combined with the buddies meeting (much more exciting thing to do with your new found mentor/fresher than build a paper tower...ahem)

so the plan is to meet up at 6.30pm in the quad so you can get paired up and then on with the madness!!

for those of you who have never been on a pub crawl before, the premise is simple...you have 1 drink at each pub and then move on to the next. this year we have planned to have a massive bar tab at the last place which means jaegerbombs for everybody!!

as if this wasn't enough we have planned a couple of team building excersises (in the loosest sense) to help you meet the people you're going to be studying with for the next few years! on top of this we will be awarding prizes and/or punishments (both in the form of alcohol)

just in case of emergency, all committee members will be on hand to make sure all of you are looked after so phone numbers will be handed out on the day
